BEEN Away for a while.... 29 July 2008
Morning Folks,
I’ve been away at festivals and getting stuck into the writing the next album.
The Lewisham’s peoples day saw a mosh pit of about a hundred toddlers all screaming in each other’s faces, running around and smearing ice cream on themselves- well I told you I was dynamic!
The following weekend took me to Damien Hirst’s country mansion at Toddington Manor in Gloucestershire. Toddington Manor, was apparently, built by the architect of the Houses of Parliament. It’s now covered in scaffolding being converted to house Damien’s vast art collection.
Mr.Hirst curated a party for kids, large and small. There was a full fairground in his back yard complete with Dodgems and a rollercoaster called the Mouse l leaving all slightly sick. There were endless free ice creams, Pimms and even a Cuban salsa band.
In the house were themed rooms, containing air hockey, karaoke and guitar hero in bare medieval rooms. I left, happy and sloshed, grinning like a big kid.
The Latitude festival saw me playing in the Film and Music Tent. The visuals were supplied by Sean at Prick Image and went down a feast!
Highlights at the festival were The Faerie Band, a horn orchestra playing acid house hits, the ethereal grandeur of Sigur Ros, and the grace of Joanna Newsom.
I, also, had a great time on Saturday night poggoing next to John Cooper Clarke while watching The Buzzcocks. That burned off all the burger’s I can assure you.
Latitude may be seen as Middle Class, but everything I saw was interesting and the staff were really friendly. So here’s to it!
Love,
Bishi
