BISHI and CAMERON CARPENTER 06 February 2009

Last Saturday I had the privilege and pleasure of performing with New York Organ wunderkind, Cameron Carpenter in Shoreditch Church.

The setting was perfectly ecclesiasuc, filled with Candles, mulled wine and music in perfect harmony.

Cameron played a selection of music, ranging from Chopin, Shostakovich and anime film music from Howl’s Moving Castle.

Watch his astonishing video here:

We duetted on the Mary Poppins classic, ‘Feed the Birds,’ and there was a grand finale where the congregation stood up and sang Jerusalem in drunken harmony.

I hope you enjoy the sumptuous photographs of the performance, taken by Jean Thomas.

After filming a special with Al Jazeera, I am currently in New York, doing more work on the upcoming ‘Albion Voice.’

I’m going to get an early night as I’ve been partying with Miss Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters.

I even made to an afternoon marathon performance by Avant-Garde legend, Meredith Monk at The Whitney.

Until next time,

Would have loved to see this! Had checked out the website previously but couldn’t find a date for this concert…now it’s been and gone. Is there a video? All I can find are some shakey mobile phone numbers on YouTube and now’t with Cameron (although photographic evidence suggests he was there!)…
