BLOG: CALL THE TIGER 25 May 2010

Hello Bishi World,

The Film is in the making, but while you wait, here are some amazing photos from the peformance. I have to say it was the most rewarding performance of my life! Enjoy the programme notes

Call The Tiger
A sensory presentation of the will behind music and prayer.

Bishi – performance and vocals

Oscar Sol – visuals and interactivity

Neil Kaczor – sound design and production

Nicholas Immaculate – body suit

Matthew Hardern – concept, direction and sound design

Bishi collaborates with Barcelona based Interactive Artist Oscar Sol to present a deconstruction and re interpretation of her song ‘Ride The Tiger’, an ode to her family deity Kali.

Structured as a ritual or prayer Bishi never quotes the song directly, instead the melodic and harmonic structures are used as a key to enter a more abstract sound world.

The light patterns, colours and sounds are created live, their dynamics constantly responding to changes in her movement and voice. She triggers, filters and manipulates the entire audio visual environment as an extension of her body.

This exploration, deconstruction and augmentation of the pop song explodes the textures and tones between and behind the notes, production and presentation.

Another world of meaning and possibility is exposed behind the polished veneer – in the shadows of pop.

I Hope to perform this again very soon.
Until next time!

Incredible, I stumbled upon you via the PRS awards and I am completely blown away. I just wanted to say that all the work you must put in to every performance is worth it and I cannot wait to see what you do next.
