Composition & Screen Scores
As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist trained in both Western and Hindustani classical music, BISHI studied sitar under Gaurav Mazumdar, a senior disciple of Ravi Shankar. This rich heritage informs her screen composition. In 2024, her debut television score for Defiance: Fighting the Far Right aired on Channel 4, which she followed with her first full original score for MAYA: The Birth of a Superhero in 2026. Bishi is represented for Film/TV/Sync by Manners McDade
Co-directed by CJ Clarke and Poulomi Basu, MAYA is a wildly imaginative, 30-minute animated virtual reality film that was shortlisted at the Festival de Cannes 2024. Set in London, the film confronts menstrual exile, stigma, and violence against women in South Asian communities through the eyes of a young girl navigating adolescence, sexuality, and her own emerging power. BISHI’s powerful, evocative, and deeply human soundtrack quietly anchors the film’s emotional force.
Technological Innovation & Live Performance
At the forefront of creative technology, BISHI collaborated with the University of Sheffield to develop an AI composer tool, and created a bespoke voice model with Neutone AI. Her boundary-pushing live performances are celebrated for their groundbreaking use of technology, ranging from interactive bodysuits that control live sound and vision on stage, to live-coded audiovisual environments. She’s performed live-coded AV shows at London’s Southbank Centre and Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, alongside mixed-reality online performances for Amazon Twitch.
Her public installations are equally pioneering: her audiovisual installation ‘Reflektions’ was commissioned for Coventry City of Culture and exhibited internationally, and she was the first artist to have her work projected onto the Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Board Roles & Academics
Beyond her creative practice, BISHI is an active advocate and educator within the creative industries. She sits on the boards of In Place Of War and the Featured Artists Coalition, and is a member of Brian Eno’s Hard Art Collective. In 2025, she was the Artist-in-Residence at the Pete Townshend Studio at the University of West London, and in 2026, she served as Module Leader in Global Popular Music at City St George’s, University of London.
